I ♡ Plastic Sports Bra

$68.00

Who doesn’t love sweating in plastic? Like all of our products, this bra is made from entirely synthetic materials derived from crude oil and processed overseas.

Materials and Care:
Middle Layer: 89% Nylon, 11% Elastane
Bra Lining: 56% Polyester, 33% Coolmax Polyester, 11% Lycra Elastane
Bra: 77% Nylon, 23% Lycra Elastane

What is Nylon?

Nylon is a synthetic polymer that is created by combining chemical substances, such as hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid, which are derived from petroleum. It was one of the first fully synthetic fibers, developed by DuPont in the 1930s. Its unique properties, like strength and elasticity, make it suitable for clothing, ropes, and other industrial products.

What is Elastane?

Also known as Spandex, elastane is made from polyurethane, a plastic derived from petroleum-based chemicals. It is a manufactured filament known for its rubber-like elasticity. Like nylon, it is created in a lab and is a staple material in items that require stretch, such as activewear.

What is Polyester?

Polyester is a synthetic fiber made from petroleum-derived chemicals. It’s known for its smooth texture, durability, and resistance to shrinking or wrinkling, making it one of the most widely used fabrics in apparel. Some studies suggest that polyester garments can shed tiny plastic fibers during washing, which may enter the environment, though research on the long-term effects is still ongoing.

What is Coolmax Polyester?

Coolmax is a branded version of polyester engineered to draw moisture away from the skin and dry quickly. It’s commonly used in performance and athletic wear for its comfort and breathability. Like other polyester fabrics, it may release microfibers over time, but the potential health or environmental impacts are still being studied.

What is Lycra Elastane?

Lycra is a branded form of elastane, known for its superior stretch and recovery. It is chemically the same as standard elastane, developed by The Lycra Company.
